This castle, together with a dozen of watchtowers spread throughout the area, is currently part of the so-called “rocche celesti” (heavenly fortresses or “roccas” to use the Italian term defining such fortified buildings), which are sites the Mountain Community of Camerino decided to turn into points of observation of the vault of heaven, exploiting the lack of light pollution in the area.
